£567,000 Award for Trespassing Teenager
Carl Murphy, 18, recently received a £567,000 payout after a four-year court battle. He fell 40ft through the roof of a warehouse nine years ago. At the time of the accident he had been trespassing on the property of the Container Care Park in Bootle, Liverpool. He claimed that because the fence that surrounded the premises was in disrepair, he was able to gain entry.
As a result of the accident, Murphy had 17 steel plates inserted in his head and is partially blind in one eye. He also claims to have suffered behavioural problems as a result of his injuries – resulting in his expulsion from two different schools.
